Staying Safe This Thanksgiving: Celebrating in Your Luxury Backyard

It's undoubtedly a crazy time to be alive, with the normality of social distancing, mask wearing, and staying at home more and more. Especially with the holiday season in full swing and Thanksgiving just around the corner, it can be easy to feel depressed and fearful about what our most treasured celebrations will look like this year. But with Groundscapes help and by utilizing your luxury backyard when you need it more than ever, there are creative ways to keep the holidays safe, fun, and relaxing this year! At Groundscapes, we bring over 20 years of experience working with some of the finest commercial enterprises in the Omaha Metro and La Vista area. During that time, we’ve learned a thing or two from our partners about the importance of (luxury) landscaping for your business and the impact it can have on your customers and employees. Read on for our personal, expert tips on how best to set up your luxury backyard for a distanced, delicious holiday.

1. Space Out the Hardscape

For any holiday gathering, more likely than not your guests will be relaxing on the hardscape, in close proximity to the outdoor fireplace or pit, outdoor kitchen with all of its delicious smells, and the outdoor living space filled with comfy patio furniture and cheery lighting. While this should all still be incorporated into your luxury outdoor gathering, this year it's important to space out the seating area on your patio and under your outdoor structure to ensure proper social distancing and safety. By placing the firepit in between groups of guests, and having one relax under the outdoor structure and one on the patio, it's a foolproof way to come together for a safe and fun celebration. Spread the twinkle lights out so everyone can enjoy the aesthetic atmosphere, and let the holiday begin!

2. Go Buffet Style

Thanksgiving in your luxury backyard during a pandemic may look a bit different, but we promise it won't be any less delicious or communal! Instead of seating everyone at one large table with the feast spread out, we suggest setting up your luxury outdoor dining area in the middle of the hardscape or in the outdoor kitchen buffet style. This way, guests can approach one at a time with their masks on to gather the goodies and return safely back to their comfy spots! When everyone is seated, the conversation, laughter, and enjoyment can commence just like old times (And by old times, we mean 2019).

3. Ensure Everyone is Cozy and Comfy

Although guests and friends may be seated a bit further apart than usual, there is no reason to skimp on comfort or coziness in your luxury backyard, especially during these colder November days. Add heat lamps to your patio or hardscape where guests will be congregating to make sure that no one is too distant to be out in the cold. Consider adding another fire feature or lighting feature, such as lamps, draped lighting, or fire torches. And finally, spruce up your outdoor living space to include comfy furniture, blankets, pillows, and all the comforts of home!

With a luxury Groundscapes backyard, it is easier than ever to take the indoors out this holiday season and create a space perfect for social distancing that makes the holidays safe for everyone. No need to worry about leaving out guests or not seeing family or friends- there are safe, creative ways to gather that Groundscapes is here to help you achieve!
